Tom Turner 2-Day Demo Workshop

Tom
Turner will begin this two-day workshop with a photo presentation of
his work, showcasing his extensive experience in pottery, glazes,
and kilns. He will present a
discussion about his specialized work in porcelain and engage
participants through questions and answers about their own work.
Tom will demonstrate the porcelain techniques of wedging,
kneading, throwing, and designing.
On the second day of the workshop, he will continue with
demonstrations of trimming and decorative techniques and simple
glaze testing, before he concludes
with an overview of firing.
Tom will serve as judge for Clay Place at Standard's Annual
Suburban Pittsburgh High School Student Exhibition. The
opening reception will take place on Friday, April 13th, from 6:00
p.m. to 8:00 p.m. His work will also be on display and
available for purchase during the reception and throughout the
workshop.
Tom Turner has been a ceramic artist for nearly 50 years. He
has
conducted workshops for more than 35 years throughout the
United States and Canada. His immaculate work is featured in more
than 30 books published in five countries.
His pieces are displayed in
numerous museums, including the National Museum of American Art at
the Smithsonian, the Everson Museum of Art in Syracuse, the American
Museum of Ceramic Art in Pomona, CA, Arizona State University,
United States Embassies, and the Taipei Fine Arts Museum in Taipei,
Taiwan. Tom currently lives
on Turner Lane in Mars Hill, North Carolina where he operates his
